We deeply regret to advise of the passing of Peter on 26th November 2023 after a long illness. Peter made a significant contribution to the Club over many years, in particular his devotion and skill coaching our young athletes.

Peter's great passion was coaching and in particular his enthusiasm and expertise in the pole vault, coaching many club athletes to state and national championship victories.

Round 1 of AVSL for 2023-24

8 Oct 2023

It was great to be back at the track for another season of summer athletics.

Great effort by everyone who was at Aberfeldie for Round 1. Only a small team with athletes being away due to sickness and exams.

Everyone showed great enthusiasm for the day and competed in multiple events, well done to all, some very strong performances. The team managed to finish 6th out of the 10 teams in Division 4.

End of Cross Country Season

21 Sep 2023

The Men's Team finished 4th place in Division 3, a great result and another big improvement. Last season they placed second in Division 4 securing promotion with our athletes collectively competing 80 times. This season we have shown a 23% increase in participation with our athletes competing 99 times between the group. This was despite a few clashes with the AGSV timetable.

Final Ladder

Our collective aim now must be to secure a few additional middle distance runners for next season, we are in a "Premiership" window.
Bring on next season.

Tan Relay Results

16 Sep 2023

XCR Round 10 - Tan Relays- Saturday, 16 September 2023

A great finish to the cross country season with 4 teams competing in ideal conditions; blue skies, little wind and mild temperature. We certainly finished with a bang and good results.

Round 10 Results

Female Under 18
A very competitive run for the girls who are much younger than 18. All performed solidly with Theodora getting back from injury. A good team effort.

Male Open - Div 3
Our best relay result for the season and an equal best team result (Sandown relays we were 4th and 10km road race we place 3rd.)
Solid runs by everyone with an even performance across all runners. Great start by Tom with David G, coming back from injury, bringing home the result in a tough last leg with two other runners all going for 3rd place. Well done to all runners.
Our ladder position in Div 3 prior to this event was 6th of 16 teams. Based on our Tan relay finish result we should end up 4th for Div 3. Top 2 go up a division.
For our first year in Div 3 a very good overall result.

Male Open - Div 6
Finishing 5th of 10 was another solid performance by our runners with the second best team result for the season. (Best result was 10km road race finishing 4th.)
A fast run by Liam and consistent runs by others to get under the 60 minute time.

Male Open - Div 7
The second time this season we finished a Div 7 team, only other time was at Sandown relays. Very good runs across all team members.

On a fine and cool Saturday morning, 1st April, we held our historic 6km handicap, with Barry Greig once again officiating with the Handicaps.
Twelve runners participated, which was a bit down on expectations, however the standard was very high. Fastest time was Jamie Blackburn, setting a new course record of 19:20. First past the post and beating the handicapper was Harley Mileto with a great time of 20:41, beating his time from last year by a whopping 4 minutes 47 seconds.

End of Season Pizza Night

6 Mar 2023

As we continue to grow the Club and leave behind the antisocial impact of COVID, we are working hard to rebuild our Club social life.

On Sunday night, 5th March, we organised a pizza night at the local haunt, La Porchettas. About 30 of our active Club Members attended. It was a lovely evening, food was good and the conversation was lively. In addition to a number of Committee members present, the event was well supported by our young athletes...great to see.

Victorian Track & Field Championships

5 Mar 2023

A few of our athletes contested the Championships this year.

Kate Bukovsan entered the Under 15 girls 400m and 800m, recording very good times but not quite qualifying for the finals. Kate's 400m time was 68.29, very close to her best, and her 800m time of 2:41.24 was a season best.

Perrin Theocharides had a first time crack at the Open Men's 100m. Perrin ran 11.54 in his heat, not quite up to his best but great experience.

Alex Linke entered the Under 20 Men's 800m. He has another year in this age group. Alex was hoping to crack the magical 2 minutes but just missed with an official time of 2:02.09 in a very fast race.

Congratulations to these 3 very talented athletes.

Victorian Masters Championships

12 Feb 2023

Congratulations to Braden Fraser who made the final of the 100m in the 45-49 year age category. Braden recorded 12.52 to finish 7th in the final.
This is a great achievement for Braden as injuries have made racing difficult for him over the past few years. Hopefully we will see him competing regularly next season.
